Termeno sulla Strada del Vino
Holidays on the sunny side of life
„We used to go past this area when we have been driving to Tuscany or to Lake Garda, but we never knew that this place is absolutely worth a stay itself!“
This is what my guests often tell me. Only those who take their time to get off the motorway, stay a couple of days and indulge in the pleasures of this area, become acquainted with people and landscape, come to know the real South Tyrolean hospitality.
We live in a wine-growing area and are especially keen on our Gewuerztraminer wine. What I keep saying is that the character of people living in this area has been shaped by the wine for decades now. Even if everyday life is frantic and busy, this is the place where calmness still hold its ground.
One of the main advantages of Termeno is its geographic position at 205 m a.s.l. in a valley which is extended north-south. The so-called “Ora”, a wind from Upper Lake Garda, daily blowing from the south, makes significant contributions to the mild climate that prevails. For this reason cycling with pleasant temperatures is possible from April to the end of October.
Not only are the high amount of sunshine hours a benefit for our wines, but also for body and soul. The nearest lake for bathing is only 4 km away. It is called Caldaro Lake (Lago di Caldaro) and offers mild bathing temperatures of more than 21 degrees from May to mid October. Beside perfect climatic conditions for outdoor freaks, Termeno also offers plenty of possibilities for those who are interested in culinary arts as well as viticulture. As far as local cuisine is concerned, our area represents a potpourri of Italian, Austrian and rustic cuisine. A great number of wine growers producing Gewuerztraminer, Schiava, Lagrein, Pinot Nero and other delicious wines have been shaping this area for decades.
